Violence brings violence – faceless sectarianism in Co Armagh

Sinn Féin Poblachtach condemns the attempts by some within Loyalism to stoke up sectarian fear in our community; in recent days, posters have appeared across Armagh and Lurgan, the latest of which appeared on a bus shelter facing Wolfisland Terrace, Derrymacash overnight and also in Derrytrasna.

The anti-Protocol poster carries the words, “Peace or Protocol…It’s your decision” and warns: “The possibility of a return to violence is very real.”

The poster had been designed with an image of Leo Varadkar superimposed on top of a photo of the Dublin/Monaghan bombings. The appearance of these posters and the apparent reference to Dublin/Monaghan have all the hallmarks of some arm of the occupying state.

A local resident confirmed, “community relations have improved in the rural area of South Lough Neagh, and nobody wants to return of sectarian displays of hate or to be living in fear of sectarian attacks on our homes”.

Sinn Féin Poblachtach activists have since removed these sectarian and threatening posters.

Sinn Féin Poblachtach, Tomas Ó hAirt Cumman, Ard Mhacha Thuaidh, were unequivocal. “As a community, we will look out for and protect our neighbours and not allow these faceless people to strike sectarian fear into nationalist communities.
