Members of Na Fianna Éireann and RSF at the unveiling of a temporary Cross in Glasnevin for Edward Costello.
On January 3rd, 2016 the following statement were issued by the Thomas Harte Cumann of Republican Sinn Féin North Armagh.
“Work will be starting over the course of the next two weeks on the North Armagh Republican Garden in Honour of Edward Costello killed in Dublin 1916 and all those who gave their lives for Irish freedom from the North Armagh Area.”
“We are still running our monthly lotto to fundraise for this, you can buy tickets on line at http://rsfnortharmagh.com/lotto/”
“We will also be hosting an Irish night in February, we will release more detail sooner to the date once we have confirmed venue.”
“The Thomas Harte Cumann of Republican Sinn Fein aim to open the Garden on the 24th of April, We are still along way away from our final aim. “
“We would like to thank those who have bought or lotto and donated up to this point , and ask for your continued support to make this project possible.”
Anyone wishing to help or donate to this project please contact this page or call on 07845052718. All help welcome.”
Meanwhile work began on the 21 of January 2016 on the Garden, during which members of Republican Sinn Féin were stopped and searched by the RUC/PSNI under article 28 of the Prevention of the Terrorism Act. Later that evening after securing the site of the Edward Costello Memorial Garden our members were followed by heavily armed members of the occupying British forces. British militia searched our members van. This is the usual harassment leveled against Republicans in occupied Ireland. Republican Sinn Féin will neither be purchased nor intimidated in the face of such abuse.
