Vol. Jimmy Connolly Cumann Cavan: Support for Gavin McKenna

Sinn Féin Poblachtach, Cavan, sends solidarity greetings to our imprisoned comrade Gavin McKenna.

Gavin, a Republican from Co Armagh, has spent 14 days in solitary confinement in Britain’s notorious Maghaberry jail, a place well known for the torture of Republican prisoners.

This jail is a bastion of British rule in the Occupied Six Counties. Gavin has spent all his time without a change of clothing or contact with his family. The British prison system claims that he is been placed on isolation over the fears of Covid-19.

Sinn Féin Poblachtach in Cavan believes the British jail administration are using the Covid-19 crisis as another tool to punish Irish Republicans. As a Republican prisoner you can only do so much in fighting the jail system.

A time must come when we on the outside say enough is enough and take the prisoners’ plight out onto the streets to highlight the great injustices that are being practised daily by the British jail administration in Maghaberry.
