Drumboe Martyrs commemoration Easter Sunday, 2.30pm, Stranorlar, Co Donegal
The Drumboe Martyrs Commemoration Committee has learned that the Provisionals have moved the time of their commemoration in Stranorlar, Co Donegal on Easter Sunday from 3.30pm to 2.30pm.
Republican Sinn Féin and the Drumboe Martyrs Commemoration Committee have always held their commemoration at this time and can only view this change as an attempt to drive us off the street. This is not the first time this has happened. Other Free State parties have tried to sabotage Republicans in past years.
The committee wishes to state that we will not be moved from our usual time and will assemble at the OLD FIRE STATION, STRANORLAR, CO DONEGAL at 2.30pm on EASTER SUNDAY, MARCH 27 to march to the monument in the town for 3pm.
We call on Republicans to join us in this the centenary year of the Easter Rising and show former comrades who have sold out the principles for which the men and women of 1916 and the Drumboe Martyrs gave their lives that there are still nationally-minded people who hold true to the All-Ireland Republic, proclaimed in Easter Week, ratified by Dáil Éireann in 1919 and betrayed by Free Staters in 1921-22.
The Provisionals joined the Free State when they took their seats first in Leinster House and then in Stormont; when they took money from the British State at Westminster; when they shook hands with members of the British royal family, including the British Queen.
We call on them once again to drop the proud name Sinn Féin.
