Preas Raitheas / Press Release
Sinn Féin Poblachtach stands in solidarity with the residents of the Short Strand in Belfast who have been under siege from a loyalist mob over the past few days. Attacks with bottles, nuts, bolts, golf balls, bricks, paintballs etc have been a nightly occurrence.
In a statement on June 1, 2015, a spokesperson said: “All these attacks have been launched from the Thistle Court area and they are being ignored by the RUC/PSNI. Once again the Crown police forces have shown their true colours. So much for the ‘reformed police’ we have heard so much of.
“These sectarian attacks have been happening all too often and show that for many in the Occupied Six Counties life has changed little over these past few years, there has been no ‘peace benefit’.
“Sinn Féin Poblachtach condemns these attacks and calls on all communities to band together in face of these bigoted attacks”.
