Charges against Diarmuid Mac Dubhghlais, who was arrested in Derry by the PSNI and charged for speaking Irish have been withdrawn. Republican Sinn Féin would like to thank each and every person who protested outside the court house on May 30th in support of the Irish language.
Speaking Irish is not a crime. Using your Irish name and being proud of your Irish identity is not a crime. This is a vindication of everyone’s right to speak and use their native language.
