In a statement on 28th May 2014, PRO for Chomhairle Uladh, Sinn Féin Poblachtach said:
“Over the last few months we have seen a rise of racist attacks in the occupied 6 counties, many homes have been vandalised and people attacked on the street due to their race or nationality, couple that with the vitriolic remarks from a Pastor McConnell in Belfast where he described the Muslim faith as “heathen” and “satanic” and going so far as to say “Islam is a doctrine spawned in hell” it is not hard to imagine the abject fear people of the Islamic faith must be living in.”
“Today 28th May 2014 British first minister in Stormont Peter Robinson endorsed these disgusting remarks of McConnell against the Islamic community, stating it was “the duty of any Christian preacher to denounce false doctrine” and “He’s (McConnell) perfectly entitled to do that – it’s an appropriate thing for a minister to do”.
“Republican Sinn Féin completely condemn these utterences of hate, utterences that have the backing of the leader of the Stormont regime. Republican Sinn Féin pledge support to all those who are the victims of racist and fascist agitators and further call on human rights organisations, anti fascist groups and all people who believe in liberty and religious freedom for all to take a stand”
“All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing”
