Rene Heidisch, Anti-fascist & supporter of Irish Freedom.

Irish republicans mourn the death of Rene Heidisch.  Rene passed away at night time on Monday, April 14.  Rene who lived in Darmstadt, Germany, was an active member of the Anti-fascist Movement in Germany and a staunch supporter of Irish Freedom. For many years, he chaired the Irish Republican Solidarity Group in his hometown.

Rene regularly visited Ireland, attended Easter Commemorations from Derry to Dublin, stood in picket lines, attended protests and supported the Republican prisoners. In his hometown Darmstadt, he sold the republican paper SAOIRSE, books on Republicanism and Irish History, collected money both for the Republican prisoners and cause of Irish Freedom and organised concert with Irish bands and songwriters.

Rene was always a loyal supporter of the Republican prisoners and the Irish freedom struggle. He was one of the first and strongest advocates of the Annual Day for Irish Republican Prisoners. His group held pickets and protests on that day since this international initiative has started in 2010. Over the years, Rene and his political organisation donated regularly for the CABHAIR Testimonial Brochure.

Rene will be missed by all members of the International Department of Republican Sinn Féin and the Republican Movement in Ireland. With Renes death, we lose an active anti-fascists, revolutionary and loyal supporter of the cause of Irish Freedom. Rene will be sadly missed by all his comrades.
