Statement from Coiste Cuimhneachán Náisiúnta/National Commemoration Committee & Sinn Féin Poblachtach

In light of the current COVID-19 restrictions and for the safety and health of our members and supporters, Sinn Féin Poblachtach and the National Commemoration Committee have decided that all ceremonies, commemorations and wreath-laying ceremonies in honour of the 1916 Rising must be postponed at the moment.

Any of our members or supporters who have a Tricolour are encouraged to fly it from their homes on Easter Sunday.  We would also ask members and supporters who have a Facebook page to display the Tricolour and Easter Lily on their pages.  We will have an online presence throughout Easter weekend and into Easter Week (details later).   We ask the public too to display the Tricolour and wear an Easter Lily.

Saoirse will not be published in hard copy form in April but will be available on the internet at its new website: It can be purchased by going to the website and clicking on the page and then on purchase beneath it for anyone with Paypal.

Please note that Ard-Oifig, 223 Parnell Street, Dublin 1 is only open sporadically. Anyone wishing to contact the office can do so by sending an email to Please keep safe everyone and when this crisis is over we will return to our normal activities.
