Statement from the Ard Chomhairle of Republican Sinn Féin

We wish to place on record that ÉIRE NUA is the policy of Republican Sinn Fein and therefore it is the intellectual property of the organisation.

ÉIRE NUA was the brainchild of Ruairí Ó Brádaigh, Dáithí Ó Conaill, Séamus Ó Mongáin and others and was adopted by the Republican Movement in 1972. Dropped by Adams etal in 1982 Republican Sinn Féin readopted it in 1987 and has updated it since then.

This year it will be once again updated and while as the document states, we welcome suggestions and proposals which will be given due consideration. Republican Sinn Féin is always open to debate and discussion on the merits or otherwise of ÉIRE NUA. However changes to the programme can only be made at an Ard-Fheis of Republican Sinn Féin.

On March 14, 2015 Republican Sinn Féin will be holding a one-day public forum on ÉIRE NUA in the Conway Mill, Belfast.
