In a statement on September 24, 2025 a spokesperson for Comhairle Uladh (Ulster Executive), Sinn Féin Poblachtach said: “The findings of the McCullough review into conduct by the RUC/PSNI arising from surveillance of journalists and other groups haven’t been surprising. Who will be the next victim?
“It has been revealed by Phoenix Law that the McCullough review has established that two of their prominent human rights solicitors, Peter Corrigan and Darragh Mackin, were the subject of unlawful surveillance by the RUC/PSNI.
“What does this type of Orwellian dystopia demonstrate to Irish society? British law enforcement is breaking its own rules in the Occupied Six Counties and also demonstrating zero regard for people’s rights, driven by the sole motivation which is being described by Phoenix Law as a ‘win at whatever cost’ approach.
“As a society still under British occupation, we should look way beyond the excuses from the pro-British apologists. This regime’s behaviour is not just simply a bad apple in every barrel type scenario. This cynical behaviour is historically described in the Occupied Six Counties as the ‘through the looking glass phenomena’.
“Sinn Féin Poblachtach have been clear that the so-called new police force in the Occupied Six Counties, the PSNI, is just the RUC rebranded.
“We express our offer solidarity to Peter Corrigan and Darragh Mackin of Phoenix Law and their families. These men are held in the highest regard and respectively offered sound legal representation to our members.
