In a statement on September 5, 2025 a spokesperson for Comhairle Uladh (Ulster Executive), Sinn Féin Poblachtach said:
“The rise and fall of Angela Rayner as British deputy prime minister, housing secretary and deputy leader of the Labour Party has shone another dark light into the heart of British politics.

“The crocodile tears appeared while Ms Rayner was being challenged by Sky News political editor Beth Rigby. Apparently, the information was only established after intensive public scrutiny. Ms Rayner did convey that, ‘I should have paid the higher rate of stamp duty on a home I bought in Hove, East Sussex, as it was my second property. Therefore, it was underpaid by £40,000, due to poor legal advice.’

“In her resignation letter, she said, ‘I worked to serve working class communities like the one that I grew up in, which are too often overlooked by those in power’. These are empty words that Ms Rayner hopes will cleanse her violation, although, be assured the working class aren’t as forgiving.

“James Connolly had a different view, he said that ‘governments in capitalist society are but committees of the rich to manage the affairs of the capitalist class’. Connolly’s words emphasise the importance of understanding the British political class and therefore recognising and challenging systemic inequalities and the influence of wealth on governance.

“Sinn Féin Poblachtach says it is great to see the working class scrutinising their government. These capitalist politicians need to be held accountable. They often feel that their own laws need not apply and that their good friends in high office will sweep the matter under the carpet.”
