In a statement on August 07, 2025, a spokesperson for Comhairle Uladh (Ulster Executive), Sinn Féin Poblachtach said: “Members of the British royal family aren’t welcome in Occupied Ireland or in the rest of Ireland for that matter.
“Let’s never forget what these British royals symbolise. The peoples of the world know what they are and what their predecessors have left in a trail of destruction. The British monarchy, through its historical empire, pillaged territories and sovereign nations primarily through murderous conquests and colonisation. These include India, as well as vast swathes of Africa like Nigeria, Kenya, and Egypt. They also expanded into territories in the Americas, Asia, and the Pacific, often involving the subjugation of existing indigenous populations and the establishment of colonial rule.
“It’s very disappointing to see that Michael D Higgins welcomed the British ‘Princess Royal’ Anne to his official residence in Dublin. She not only represents imperialism; she also holds a rank of General in the British army, Air Chief Marshal in the RAF and Admiral within the Royal Navy. She is an official for the whole British establishment including its government.
“Those that claim it’s only symbolism and play it down as nothing to see here, sure just move on, can only be described as imperialists and supporters of genocide.
“This so-called Princess Royal stems from a historical bloodline of genocidal maniacs, who have seen fit to reign over the murder and colonialisation of peoples all over the world and who have provided munitions that have wiped out generations of innocence. Let’s also remember, the British government’s formal support for Zionism. This came about in 1917 with the Balfour Declaration, which favoured the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine, then under Ottoman control.”
