In a statement on June 23, 2025, a spokesperson for Comhairle Uladh (Ulster Executive), Sinn Féin Poblachtach said: “We categorically condemn the violent attack on the Belfast Islamic Centre on June 21.

Sinn Féin Poblachtach supports the good work of the Belfast Islamic Centre (BIC). There have been Muslims in the Occupied Six Counties for well over a hundred years. According to the BIC website the first reported purpose-built place of prayer being the ‘Cockle House’ (facing Makkah) in Crumlin, Co Antrim.

“As Irish Republicans we stand with all minorities. The people who are organising racist hate upon this vulnerable group have a history of sectarian violence and are aligned with far right actors from around the world.

“Sinn Féin Poblachtach rejects their fascist ideology. It will never take over our historic Irish nation.”
