In a statement on May 17, 2025 a spokesperson for Sinn Féin Poblachtach said: “Racism is the enemy of the working people, therefore, the foe of Republicanism.
Scapegoating immigrants and those individuals whom provide life saving services to the people of Ireland—isn’t a case of mistaken identity.
“Sinn Féin Poblachtach appeals to the people of Ireland to stand firm against racist agitators. They have demonstrated that they are in cahoots with ultra-Ulster loyalists and British far right activists. This mix of extreme elements serves no purpose whatsoever to the cause of Irish freedom.
“The far right elements and their poisonous ideology seeks to have an exclusive identity and a national superiority.
“The 1916 Proclamation says: ‘The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all the children of the nation equally, and oblivious of the differences carefully fostered by an alien Government, which have divided a minority from the majority in the past.’
“Sinn Féin Poblachtach supports those who stand against racism and call out others who have propagated such bile.
“In particular, we send our solidarity to Aidan Brown, the proprietor of Peadar Brown’s pub in the heart of the liberties, Dublin 8.”
