Easter Statement from the Leadership of the Republican Movement
In this, the 109th Anniversary of the 1916 Rising, the leadership of the Republican Movement reaffirms our allegiance to the 32-County All-Ireland Republic. This movement has never accepted and never will accept the partitionist parliaments imposed by England in 1921.
We stand on the rock of the 32-county All-Ireland Republic established in arms on Easter Monday 1916 and defended throughout the War for Independence. Following on from the Treaty of Surrender which saw the two partitionist parliaments established, the 32-county Republic was defended in the Civil War 1922. The Republican Forces lost to the joint efforts of the Free State Army, assisted by English armaments and military assistance.
On behalf of the Leadership of the Irish Republican Movement in continuity and defence of the Irish Republic proclaimed by Pádraig Mac Piarais, we send Easter greetings to our members at home in Ireland, in England, in the United States of America and in numerous geographical spheres across the world.
We especially send greetings to all those who have remained steadfast throughout this generation of Irish resistance. Those who have endured harassment, imprisonment, torture and the death of family members at the hands of the English soldiery and their death squads, be that in the RUC/PSNI or locally-recruited agents of death in Ireland. We send greetings to those who still today are in jail north or south of England’s line of demarcation in Ireland for their Republican beliefs.
Draconian laws which see many changes in court cases in the Six Occupied Counties have been enacted by the Britishlawmakers, which will mean that the people in the occupied area of Ireland will be living in an open prison, must and will be challenged. These laws have been accredited by the Stormont regime.
We note with amazement the unworthy governments of the 26-County area who have for the last 50 years sold off the wealth of our Nation, the oil rights in the Irish Sea, the fishing rights to our waters; Bord na Móna has been closed down while compressed turf is imported from other European states;the sugar beet industry has been closed and it is now revealed by study groups that this was the incorrect decision. Voting machinery which has never been used costing millions of euro, bicycle sheds costing millions, security hut costing millions; bailing out the bondholders at the behest of American/and Irish investment bankers, an absolute swindle on the Irish Nation. That should be worth quite a bit of leverage when talking to those administrating the USA. For if the truth be told there should be people in jail for this massive scam.
At this time of major upheaval in the affairs of the world, Irish Republicans must stay focused on the national task, set in train by countless generations of Irishmen and Irishwomen.
Notwithstanding all else, we cannot remain immune to the suffering of the Palestinian people, the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. What is portrayed across the world as a war is an unforgivable genocide, and ethnic cleansing. Murder, maiming and infanticide are the methods employed and this is perpetrated by a governance armed and abetted by England, America and other former European colonial powers.
Why is it so difficult to expose this thing lurking beneath humanity? This thing which allows the bully boys of yesteryear to step forth and brazenly commit this slaughter, in the development of greater personal wealth. Do they believe that the freedom-loving peoples of the world will tolerate such a thing for ever. Do they believe that what they are doing will not affect those coming after them? Look what happened to the Jewish people during WWII, will this ever be forgotten? That such a thing would ever be tolerated again is unbelievable. What is the ignorance that allows this slaughter to go unchecked. While simultaneously taunting those afflicted that it will get worse if you do not do as I say. Russia, USA, England: leave your neighbours alone, freethem from your interference and bullying.
In relation to the tariffs being imposed by the United States of America it is imperative that the neutrality of our Nation is maintained. This remains an important stance supported by Unionist, Nationalist and others, endeared to our Nation and its well-being. If there is cabling to be protected then let those who have a vested interest in these lines of communication pay the cost to the Irish Nation to defend this infrastructure.
The organisation styling itself as Sinn Féin (the Provisionals) and now attending in the parliaments of England’s creation in Ireland must remove the proud name of Sinn Féin out of those parliaments. Sinn Féin never recognised England’s occupation of our country. Make right this arrogant assertion.
There have been numerous attempts by multifarious agents to undermine the Republican Movement. Notwithstanding thiswe remain solidly intact and capable to develop our historic organisation. We shall not fail when it comes to furthering the cause of Irish Freedom. Irish Freedom will never be accomplished by attending at these British-created assemblies. The objectives of this organisation are those of Theobald Wolfe Tone and Pádraig Mac Piarais, to unite the people of Ireland, Protestant, Catholic and Dissenter and to substitute the common name of Irishman and Irishwoman. In the words of Tone: “To break the connection with England, the never-failing source of all our political ills.”
We call on the young men and women of Ireland to help us build the New Ireland, help us establish the 32-County All-Ireland Republic, allowing all the people of Ireland to live together in equality: politically, economically, culturally and socially. We call on our people across the world to give support to our struggle for national self-determination. Across this country over Easter, at the graves of our patriot dead, we call for help and support from our membership and supporters across Ireland and beyond.
An Phoblacht Abú.
