In a statement on February 27, 2025, a spokesperson for Comhairle Uladh (Ulster Executive), Sinn Féin Poblachtach: “The British regime is no stranger at bringing death to the doorsteps of innocent civilians and propping up arms’ dealers.
“The moral compass of British imperialists is irreparably broken. They view war as a mere occurrence, enriching the elite and arms’ dealers while the public perceives it as highly destructive. Throughout history, the British have viewed wars as a strategic tool, despite the devastating impact on communities. They have wielded power as colonisers and enforcers of conflict. In latter years this approach is often carried out discreetly as a method of asserting command and control.
“Declassified UK have reported that British military aid to Ukraine – which amounts to £4.5bn this year – is really a subsidy to these arms’ firms. The Labour government’s increase in military spending and its extraordinary 100-year accord with Ukraine are platforms for the British arms industry, which Labour sees as key to economic growth in Britain.
“David Lammy, foreign secretary, has also declared, ‘the British defence industry is key to our growth and security by creating jobs, driving forward innovation and collaborating internationally’.
“Sinn Féin Poblachtach condemns the British imperialists who ensure that there is always an abundance of funds available for war, as shown by the substantial investments made by these individuals in companies such as Babcock International, BAE Systems, GKN Aerospace Services Limited, and Northrop Grumman UK. This blood money is a testament to the ruthless nature of Britain and its imperialist allies, who are adept at extracting every last drop of profit.”
