Sinn Féin Poblachtach condemns extradition of Lurgan man

In a statement on August 25, 2024, a spokesperson for Comhairle Uladh (Ulster Executive), Sinn Féin Poblachtach said: “We strongly condemn the arrest of Lurgan man Martin McCauley by the 26-County State.

Martin McCauley was arrested on August 22 by the Free State police at the behest of the RUC/PSNI on a British extradition warrant. The 26-County State has long collaborated with the British occupation of the Six Counties, particularly by extraditing Irish citizens for political purposes.

Sinn Féin Poblachtach has always opposed political extradition and we call for the immediate release of Martin McCauley. We also call for an end to the criminalisation of Irish Republicans and extradition to so-called British justice.
